What led you to flexible eating/ Flex Fuel?

My snacking was out of control. I knew I needed help with accountability. My daughter told me about this program.

What do you do to stay active?

Crossfit, hiking and many dog walks because I have 3 energetic dogs!

What has been your biggest challenge through this process so far and how did you overcome it?

Truly being honest with myself. I have been a huge sugar addict for years!

What has been your biggest success through this process so far?

Finally allowing myself and well being to come first. Along with getting off the sugar addiction train.

What do you like most about the flexible eating process?

I can eat what I want within moderation. Learning to adjust my menu based on my activities and commitments for the day.

What is your favorite treat to fit into your macros?

Peanut Butter! On toast, apples etc.

What is your favorite macro hack?

Any fun late night snack I can fit into my macros. Like chobani yogurt, with fruit added and freeze it.

What do you like most about having a nutrition coach?

Having someone to be there through my successes and hold me accountable during my failures. Someone who isn’t family or a friend. Sometimes it’s easier to share kinda personal stuff with someone you aren’t close to.

Would you recommend other to Flex Fuel and why?

Of course yes! The accountability factor is huge. The blogs, recipes, the facebook posts from people in the group. It has been life changing but understanding it is ok to be human too!

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication Carrie, we are excited to continue this journey with you towards your healthiest life!

Meet Margie!

September 2017 >>>June 2018

For most of my adult life, I have never been able to find a healthy balance between fitness and my nutrition. I’d tried a couple different diets in the past with little success. At one point, my eating got so out of control (legit trips to McDonalds after work and buying cinnamon rolls at the store once a week then crashing hard) and it felt like this never ending cycle of eating then hating myself. By the end of last summer, I weighed the most I’d ever weighed and felt miserable, so I knew I’d reached a point where I had to make a major change.

I’d heard about @flexfuel.nutrition through a couple friends and knew I had to get my eating under control before anything else. I’ve been working with Mallory since September and I came to her desperately wanting to lose weight and lean down, but more importantly, have a better relationship with food. She’s heard my ups and downs, coached me, and supported me through little moments of defeat without judgement and I owe a lot of my success to her.

Not only I have I shed 18 lbs and a few inches, but more importantly my relationship with food is completely altered. While I do eat a lot of food, foods that I WANT and that fuel my body properly, I still occasionally indulge in my guilty pleasures. I’m also a lot more conscious about my alcohol intake now, which was something I was always veryyyyy lax with (you know, being in my 20’s and all). The last piece I wanted was to dial in my fitness, so I stumbled back into @thorbeckescrossfit in February and haven’t looked back. Anyone can say what they want about CF, (I did at one point as well) but all I will say is don’t ever knock someone for trying to get in better shape.

Although this is not an end point, I wanted to share my personal experience thus far and maybe inspire someone along the way. I never, ever wanted to be photographed in my bikini before but after months of hard work, patience, and discipline, here I amheart

Janice W. -35

We have taken Janice through a diet phase, a reverse phase and are back into a dieting phase again. In her reverse diet we got her over 300 calories per day more than what she was averaging when she first came to us all while staying at a lower weight! Here’s what she has to say about her experience with Flex Fuel:

“My journey on Flex Fuel has been and will continue to be one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. Hands down. The mental chatter, the Shallow Hal feeling days where you see yourself through a funhouse mirror lens, the old stories… you name it! I have stayed the course, and remained committed to my goals. When I started I just wanted to LOOK like someone that worked out. I already spent hours in the gym on the regular, and pushed my body constantly, but I wanted to look and feel like that from the inside out. This process has provided me continuous lessons around the importance of fueling my body. I eat SO MUCH it still surprises me when the scale or measurement goes down. I’ve traveled a ton and stayed on track with each and every trip, freezing and packing food, getting creative with travel workouts, etc. The biggest struggle of all was giving the OK to post my pictures. But I think that is something I’m supposed to face. Be proud of and face the before, and commit to the ‘after’ as the NOW. The from here on out. No. Going. Back. I’m not done, but I’m sure proud of where I’m at. Gym sessions are stronger than ever, and Hot Yoga has reached a whole new level with inversions, arm balances and so much more. Stronger and lighter – what a combo! Most importantly my mental and physical awareness around food, fuel, hunger signs, emotional triggers, etc is that of someone with a healthy mindset! Sky is the limit, especially with my W.Seattle Macro Gang, Katy and Mallory by my side.”

We feel so lucky to call you part of our Flex Fuel family and can’t wait to see what’s ahead for you! Thank you for trusting the process and putting in the work, you are SUCH an inspiration to everyone around you!

Julianne C. Age:30

“Before starting my journey with macros and Flex Fuel, I felt so lost. I have dealt with my weight for so many years and year after year I would try to find a new program to join that would help me reach my goal, but I never found it. Marcos got brought up to me by my CrossFit coach after endless conversations of feeling lost and hopeless when it came to healthy eating. So I went home and sat on the computer for 2 hours researching what macros was! After learning all about it, a friend told me about Mallory and after talking with her iI knew we would be a great team! After starting macros it felt like what I had been looking for for over 10 years, it was a breathe of fresh air, I could see my goals right in front of me! I knew if I put in the hard work and with the help from Mallory I know I can go above and beyond what I ever thought possible! I’m 9 months in, 50 pounds down and I feel like I’m just getting started!!!”

50 lbs down but she’s gained a new understanding and knowledge about what fuels her the best. We understand how confusing it can be with so much nutritional info floating around! Its hard to pick through it all and it can leave you feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. We take pride in educating our clients as much as possible throughout their time working with us because we know just how important it is to have a full understanding on your nutrition. If you’re unhappy with your aesthetics. or feel like your nutrition isn’t giving you optimal performance in life, email us at, we would love to chat with you!

Great job Julianne! I can’t wait to see where this journey continues to take you!

With love,

Christine C.- Age 46

“What a year it’s been. It’s been just about a year and flex fuel has changed my life.  My husband and I have been doing cross fit and we love it.  However my husband really needed a change in his diet so I suggested we start flex fuel.  We jumped right in and committed for six months.  Having the support of my husband, my girls who I workout with and the support of my coach has helped me succeed.  I’ve lost between 10-13 pounds but more importantly inches and toning areas that I never thought would be possible.  There are times when I splurge (Dads weekend, vacations, etc..) but I just get right back to it and never miss a workout, even when I’m on vacation.  You can always fit in a cross fit workout anywhere.  I’ve been a runner for 15+ years and ran between 30-40 miles a week and now I only do cross fit and maybe run 10 miles a week.  This was very hard for me at first but I believe weight training is the key to my success.  I really had to listen to my coach.  She told me I was working out way too hard.  Katy has totally changed the way my husband and I eat and we can still eat the foods we like.  She has been there every step of the way.  She asks me how I’m feeling, changes my numbers in my diet and most of all encourages and pushes me to see the results I want.  I love food and will power is not my strong suit.  But I love working out and seeing results.  This is a way of life for me now.  Here’s to another year!  Thank you so much Katy!”

Christine has made amazing progress, all while enjoying life and finding balance with her nutrition. She is a great example of properly going through a cut and then reversing, adding calories back in after, to make sure she stays healthy and her results are sustainable long term. We are periodizing her nutrition so that she can perform well, create a plan she can adhere to for life, see body composition changes and stay healthy doing it! She has learned that more isn’t always better when it comes to working out and is learning the balance in being active and getting ample rest and recovery.

The photo on the left is at the peak of her cut and the photo on the right is after reversing her up to maintenance calories, eating almost 500 calories more a day.

Christine started in January 2017 and we have worked to find a plan that has allowed her to LIVE! Make sure your nutrition plan is tailored to you and allows you to be flexible! A good plan will not only produce results, but it will produce that will last for a life time!

We are so proud of you Christine! Thank you for being patient, putting in the work and proving that this truly is a lifestyle. The best is yet to come!

Progress so far: down 30 lbs and several inches but the magic is in what she’s gained; an unbreakable confidence in herself and her relationship with food. She has been able to change her focus from the scale to fueling her body properly and keeping her end goal in mind. By focusing on her health and mindset, her weight loss followed. I got this email from her yesteray and it made me so unbelievably happy to read that getting under that 170 mark wasn’t her main source of joy, its the fact her relationship with food has postively changed and these changes are sustainable.

“Yesterday I finally made it below 170 and thankfully I had almost no reaction other than to note that I had no reaction. It’s kind of a funny thing. Years ago I had a conversation with a friend about weight loss and I said my dream goal would be 175.  I’d be perfectly happy with that.  She tried to encourage me to believe that I could do better but I was unwilling to commit to the amount of work it would take and the extreme dieting it would take to get me there.  At the time I was just cutting calories and I was starving.  I was really perfectly happy to settle for 185.  That has always been my happy weight.  There has only been one other time that I got under 170, it took extreme effort and extreme eating and it was ultimately unsustainable.  I think that is why I have always sabotaged myself once I get to that 185 mark.  Fear of success and fear of failing.  This process has felt almost effortless, it feels so sustainable and so doable.  I can’t even begin to describe how freeing it is to not care or worry about the number on the scale.  Thank you so much.”

Nice work Tanon!

Christine G. Age:34

About a year and a half ago, I began exercising again pretty regularly and eventually joined Crossfit. I thought that would help with the weight. I felt that I was eating pretty healthy and working out consistently. Instead, my weight increased and so did my inches. It was time for a change, my body was no longer responding to things the way it did when I was in my 20’s. I had heard about Flex Fuel and started looking into the program. In has been great. I have learned so much about how to balance the food that I need to fuel my body. Since then, I have lost over 20 pounds and tons of inches. I am much stronger, especially my core and back. I know at this point in time, I am stronger and can run faster and longer than I have ever been able to. It is so refreshing to go back and look at my workout logs to see how much strength I have built. More importantly, I love being able to chase my 7 and 4 year old around and not feel exhausted. I can pick them up and carry them without worrying about hurting my back! This is what it is all about, being able to do what I have been called to do. Flex fuel has been a part of helping me do that.

Flexible eating works well for me because I am constantly on the go, whether it is related to work, family, or church. We have a tradition of being able to go out weekly to meet extended family at restaurants and I can do that. I love not feeling guilty about enjoying treats. I will admit that I was incredibly nervous about losing out on my treats……dark chocolate is my all time favorite! However, I have found that some of my protein smoothies, while not totally replacing the dark chocolate do curb the cravings. I can still enjoy some, as long as it fits into my macros for the day. Mallory has been incredible with helping support upcoming challenges I might be facing. She has a sixth sense at recognizing even the tiniest accomplishments. Those tiny accomplishments quickly add up to big accomplishments!”

My goal was to look awesome before my 40th birthday and to kick butt at CrossFit. I wanted all my hard work to show. Mallory helped me achieve my goals! I look the best I have ever looked in my life and I am stronger than I have ever been. I’ve set PR’s in all my lifts. Flex Fuel and Mallory are amazing! Consistency pays off!”
